Processing of Learner Permits through the Driving Portal Online System

25 SEPTEMBER 2024:

Transport Malta informs the public and all registered motoring schools that all learner permit applications, for all applicable categories, may be submitted and fully processed through the Authority’s driving licence portal liċenzji-xufiera.gov.mt.

As of the 1st of October 2024, all learner permit applications will fully shift to online, with physical applications being accepted by the Authority for only limited and specific cases.

Transport Malta also reminds that the portal, which was launched by the Authority in conjunction with the Office of The Prime Minister back in 2022, offers a vast and comprehensive variety of online driving licencerelated services accessible through its liċenzji-xufiera.gov.mt portal with considerable improvements over the previous portal version that provides an overall better, faster and more efficient experience to its clients, including services such as:

  • Real-time access for certifications by medical doctors on behalf of their patients and access to insurance representatives to renew their clients’ driving licences.
  • The option to change/upload a new passport-quality picture.
  • The option to upload a new signature.
  • Access to place urgent card orders or personal collections without the need to email outside of the system.
  • Access to update and maintain your personal details.
  • Option to add an alternative mailing address.
  • Access to check driving licence penalty points.

These service enhancements are therefore included on the same portal, wherein clients can access all the other various driving licence-related services, whether these being new learner permits for first-time drivers, applications for new categories to be added to driving licence or access for checking personal penalty points.

Transport Malta is committed to keep on introducing new one-stop-shop concepts and improving on its online services to keep guaranteeing high-quality service for all its customers.
